Legends IN Design

Scholarship

These instructions are designed to assist students who are applying for an IDCI Legends IN Design Scholarship.

The IDCI Legends IN Design Scholarships are merit-based scholarships.

Eligibility:

  • Resident of the State of Indiana

  • Be enrolled in an accredited professional or post-professional industry related degree program

  • Must have completed at least the second year in the program at the undergraduate level

  • Must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

Requirements:

  • Provide all requested information. If a particular item does not apply to you, use “NA”.  If additional space is necessary, attach a separate sheet.  Indicate which question is being answered on the separate sheet.

  • Complete application packages must be completed and submitted by: MIDNIGHT, SATURDAY MAY 12TH, 2018

    • Applications submitted after the deadline or not complete in any way will be considered ineligible​

    • It shall be the applicant’s responsibility to make sure that complete application submission is received by the IDCI prior to the stated deadline. Students are encouraged to submit the applications as soon as possible.  The IDCI assumes no responsibility for circumstances that may lead to the receipt of incomplete, late, or otherwise nonconforming applications. A confirmation email will be sent to the student once your application packet has been received.

Complete application packages may be submitted by clicking the link below to complete the Google Form Application and attaching and/or uploading any deliverables.

Please note the application must be completed in one sitting and will take 20-30 minutes, once all deliverables are collected. All deliverables to be submitted via link above.

Once you start the application you CANNOT save and continue once you have started.

Application Packages Must Include:

  • A letter of recommendation from a faculty member in your department of Interior Design.  This letter should specifically address your academic credentials and interests related to Interior design.

  • A copy of your unofficial current transcript of your grades certified by the university and signed by your departments Academic Director.

  • Your signature and the signature of your Interior Design or Architecture department chairperson.

  • An original Portfolio Submission.  (see information below)

  • A written essay (see Item 13 from the Scholarship Application).

  • A PDF file of all applicant-completed portions of the entire submission (Application, Essay, Portfolio Submission).

 

Portfolio Submission:

  • Submit a maximum of 10 portfolio pages demonstrating your design work to date.  All design work submitted must be original work prepared by the applicant. By submitting the images, the applicant certifies that they depict his/her original work. Please flatten files or use a zip folder or upload to google docs and submit.

  • Your portfolio submission should highlight specific projects/endeavors that you have prepared as Interior Design coursework and/or professional work experiences.  The images should complement and support your written essay in the Interior Design field.

  • If your portfolio submission includes a presentation of your credentials in a professional work environment, a letter of recommendation from an Interior Designer, other than the faculty member, may be included in addition but is not required.  If also submitted, this letter should be from a practicing Interior Designer or other professional to support your work in the field.


Letters of Recommendation:

  • All letters of recommendation must be submitted as a part of your packet with the signature of the person(s) awarding the recommendation, noting credentials and contact information, prior to the deadline.  The letter(s) of recommendation and the transcripts must be included in the complete application package submitted by the student.

Selection Process:

  • A selection board, chosen by The Board of Directors of the IDCI will make the selection of the scholarship recipients by May 14, 2018.  Selection will be made on the merits of the application and not on the financial need of the applicant.

  • Winner(s) of the scholarship must be able to attend the Legends IN Design lunch from 10-1pm on May 21, 2018 at the Indianapolis Museum of Art @ New Fields.


NOTE:

  • By signing the application, the applicant certifies that he or she is a permanent resident of the State of Indiana.  The IDCI may require additional proof of residency be furnished prior to the final decision to award a scholarship.

  • The IDCI has no quota or limit on the number of scholarships to be awarded.  A minimum of one $1,000 scholarship shall be awarded​

  • All correspondence from the IDCI will be directed to the student’s present e-mail address indicated in the application unless directed otherwise.
